Mega-tsunami: Would Auckland survive?
The recent Kaikoura earthquake sent strong shock waves not only through the earth's surface, but the organisation tasked with informing has told kiwis that a major tsunami is possible. Following the degree 7.8 earthquake, balanced in power to the one that badly damage Napier in 1931 they have said that one is highly likely to hit if it happens again. A 2m-high tsunami had already hit the Kaikoura from the first earthquake.

NZ Breakers
10 boys from our school were very lucky to go over North Harbour to the breakers training court yesterday.
Just as we drove through we were all excited and we jumped off, we walk in and we thought it was only going to be our school there. Suddenly there were three other schools, Glen taylor, Glen Innes and St Kents. We watched them play and train for 1 hour and boy oh boy they were good. During the game this guy called Akil Mitchell kept dunking everywhere. After watching them train hard and putting the effort in we played some games and we play this game called knockout with Alex Pledger and Jordan Ngatai. After that we went around in our schools to get our basketballs sign. We finally played be ourselves and had fun with our school mates.

US election: Betting favours Hillary
The betting markets are strongly backing Hillary Clinton to win the US Presidential election. But have they got it right, or is this going to be a repeat of the Brexit decision? The UK's Betfair says Hillary Clinton is now trading at an 83 percent chance of winning. Betfair says 110 million pounds (NZ$186 million) has now been traded on the race. It looks a very good chance that total betting will exceed the 127 million pounds (NZ$215 million) bet on the Brexit market in June.

All Black Ben Smith says Ireland were just too good: 'We had our chances'
A week in Rome sounds like fun, but you can bet Ben Smith and those All Blacks, who took a rare hit to their pride in Chicago, will be itching get to Ireland. While Irish publicans are probably still rolling barrels of the good stuff into their cellars to keep supporters happy, the All blacks, having a disappointment of being unable to add to their record 18 test victories, must now keep their heads down and ensure the burning sensation that follows a rare defeat isn't detrimental to their tour. All blacks lost to Ireland 40-29, Ireland was to good and they deserved to win.

Whakatane fireworks to return, years after fiery disaster
Whakatane will have a public fireworks show this year - the first since 2009, when 40 minutes worth of bangers exploded in about 40 seconds. Thousand of dollars worth of fireworks went off at once in the fiery mishap, lighting up the Bay of Plenty sky, but also causing a lot of danger and scrub fire. Sadly two people were taken to hospital with major injuries after the accident. The November 12 Sky Show, two years in the making, will take place at Rugby Park.

Floating head makeup - best Halloween costume ever?
For this year's Halloween, artist Alish Octigan skipped the celebrity-themed costumes and took things into her own hands, creating a scary terrifying effect depicting her severed head head floating above her neck. Using paint from her local supply store in Norway along with a great deal of skill-Octigan designed the ghoulish look herself and shared images of the result online. She used red paint to creat the cut-off effect to about halfway up her neck, and then covered the rest of the space up to her chin with black. Her scary photo photos have had ten thousands of likes on Twitter and Instagram.
